The Synergia project is looking for ways to create a robust farming system that works with nature. In the future, technology will support rather than restrict the farming system, for example by using smart sensors to monitor biological processes.
The project brings together knowledge from plant biology, ecology, agriculture and technology in three different use cases: horticulture, dairy farming and crop farming. Researchers from the different disciplines work together with partners from governments, farmers and industry. Combined, these partners not only provide valuable input to make the project as realistic as possible, but also gain knowledge to improve their own businesses. The project is part of the NWO Crossover programme, which aims to make an impact on major societal issues.
