Next Food Collective appoints Sanne Griffioen and Thor Tummers as new members of the Supervisory Board

Sanne Griffioen and Thor Tummers have joined the Supervisory Board of Next Food Collective (NFC), a collaboration that brings together a wide range of leading companies, knowledge institutions and research organisations within the food industry. With their broad expertise in sustainability, innovation, public-private collaboration and strategic stakeholder relations, they form a valuable addition to the Supervisory Board.

Sanne Griffioen

Sanne Griffioen is Director Farm Sustainability at FrieslandCampina, one of the world’s leading dairy cooperatives. In this role, she is responsible for the sustainability strategy at farm level, with a strong focus on climate, nature and biodiversity goals.

With a PhD in Nutrition from Wageningen University & Research, Sanne combines a strong scientific foundation with practical application. Within FrieslandCampina, she has held several leadership roles focused on innovation and sustainability in the dairy sector. Her ability to connect science, practice and value chain collaboration makes her a valuable addition to the Supervisory Board.

Sanne Griffioen looks forward to her new role:

Thor Tummers

Thor Tummers is responsible for external affairs in the Netherlands at Unilever, with a focus on circular economy and public-private collaboration. He works at the intersection of government, business, knowledge institutions and societal organisations to accelerate major transitions, including resilience and value chain collaboration.

He brings experience in stakeholder management, government affairs, issue management and strategic partnerships. In addition, he is active within VNO-NCW, FNLI and the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition. He is also involved in innovation programmes such as CircularPlasticsNL and BioBasedCircular, both part of the National Growth Fund.

With his broad experience in public-private collaboration and external positioning, he brings a valuable perspective to the Supervisory Board, particularly in strengthening the connection between innovation, public policy and partnerships.

Thor Tummers about his new role:

“The major challenges in the food system require intensive collaboration between companies, knowledge institutions and governments. Next Food Collective plays an important connecting role in this. I look forward to contributing, together with all partners, to strengthening this collaboration and accelerating the development and scaling of innovations.”

Supervisory Board

With the appointment of Sanne Griffioen and Thor Tummers, the Supervisory Board of Next Food Collective is once again at full strength.

In addition, Sanne Griffioen will take over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board from Manfred Aben, who stepped down following his retirement and departure from Unilever.

Both joined the Supervisory Board on May 1, 2026.
