- Can you tell something about yourself and your role within NFC?
I studied Health Sciences at Maastricht University, where I also obtained my PhD in Human Nutrition. Nutrition and health have always been at the heart of my career and that still holds true in my current role at Next Food Collective. As Theme Director Healthy Nutrition & Wellbeing, I am responsible for shaping the strategy and building collaborations that drive healthier and more sustainable food systems.
- What do you find most enjoyable or inspiring about your work?
I’m a foodie at heart, talking about food always makes me happy! Food connects people, both personally and professionally. Having worked in very different environments, I’ve learned to speak the “languages” of many stakeholders, which helps me bring people together. What inspires me most is uniting these worlds to make healthy and sustainable food the easy choice for everyone.
- What impact do you want to make with your work at NFC? How do you contribute to its success?
I believe research should not stop at publications or PhD theses. Many of our results have the potential to make a real difference in society if we translate them into practice. My focus is on designing programmes where societal impact is a goal from the very beginning, so that the knowledge we create truly helps people live healthier and more sustainable lives.
- What hobbies or interests do you have outside work?
As a true foodie, I love exploring new restaurants with family or friends. I also play volleyball with a great group of women, we even joined the competition last year! And whenever I can, I enjoy long walks in nature, often with friends or with my dog.
- What’s a fun fact about yourself that readers probably don’t already know about you?
I originally trained as a physiotherapist, but these days I prefer working on healthy organisations rather than sore shoulders!
