Speed up the use of sustainable ingredients and processes for attractive alternative consumer products
About the project
To meet the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality goals, we must radically rethink how we develop food products. The Platform for Rapid Experimentation and Data-driven Ingredient Characterization & product Testing (PREDICT) is a pioneering initiative that combines food science, high-throughput experimentation (HTE), and artificial intelligence to transform food processing.
By moving beyond trial-and-error, PREDICT enables us to understand ingredients in their full complexity. This approach helps identify sustainable alternatives that match the performance of conventional ingredients and accelerates the development of innovative, climate-friendly products.
Borrowing proven methods from the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, PREDICT introduces automated HTE and data-driven modeling to food design. These tools empower companies to optimize ingredient functionality, product formulation, and environmental impact—simultaneously.
The result? Faster innovation, smarter ingredient choices, and a clear path toward a lower-footprint food system. From novel plant proteins to less refined ingredients, PREDICT is shaping the future of sustainable food.
Goal
The mission is to accelerate the adoption of sustainable ingredients and processes to enable the development of appealing, future-proof consumer products.
